Happy new year.
Coming January 14 is the 15th anniversary of the NPO Institute of Industrial Cluster establishment. Until the 5th year, we set up the activity base, and until 10th year we consolidated the foundation, and then entered the full-scale support activity. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the guidance and encouragement provided by related government departments and the different organizations such as research institutions, universities and other entities, as well as the understanding and support of our members.
Recently we have utilized the experiences, knowledge and personal connections of senior engineers who used to play active roles in governments, universities, industries, etc., and have been growing to the extent of performing support activities to corporate members of small and medium enterprises, various affiliated organizations and citizens, existing in not only Yokosuka and Miura area, but also all over Kanagawa Prefecture and part of Tokyo.
Currently, we are an NPO consisting of 20 corporate members and 31 individual members, and the organization consists of three departments, which are “corporate member support”, “environmental solutions” and “international business support”, and three sections, which are “new public common”, “industry-government-academia collaboration support”, “public Affairs”, and “secretariat”. Many individual members belong to different departments and sections and perform efficient activities.

Details of support to the above-mentioned companies and organizations are patent application and survey, HP / IT support, business support, etc. provided by the corporate member support department, and ISO9001/14001/EA21 accreditation acquisition and registration by environmental solutions, and interpreting in different scenes, translating corporate technical documents, which are all to receive revenue. The new public common applies for activities on behalf of the local government and holds counseling room and some seminars, eco-friendly class and science class for primary school children, etc. The industry-government-academia collaboration support tries to bridge between the university and enterprises in a way of conducting tours to research institutes or so. The public affairs, issuing the newsletter and administrating and managing the homepage, is widely publicizing our activities.
In addition, there is a tendency of less interacting between our members which is a problem due to the nature of NPO. Regular member gathering and event of playing golf, travelling, etc. are being held to solve the problem. Recently 8 people, including corporate members, traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam personally for sightseeing and making tours to the industrial park, JETRO and the Japanese language school. We hope to make use of the experiences and knowledge obtained from the tour for dealing with topics such as Vietnamese trainees.
Lastly, we are going to actively provide information security measures for corporate members.
This year is the boar, that is the last year in the Zodiac sign, and Heisei era will proceed to the new era after finishing the role this coming spring. We, senior citizens are well experienced and therefore not going straight forward too much like boars, but try our best to continue contributing to the development of our region for the future.
